Natural Dying with Madder Root

Well, I finally got up the nerve to try natural dying. I made up a big pot of natural dye using Madder Root, alum and cream of tartar. I love the color. I think I will add a line of natural dyed roving & batts to our fiber store at www.applerose.com

What techniques did you use? I am looking up information about dyeing with madder root for a presentation at my knitting guild. I'd love to hear your steps.
